Leanne E. Smith is a writer, editor, photographer, dancer, teacher, musician, and event organizer.  She received her Master of Fine Arts in Creative Nonfiction from Goucher College, as well as graduate and undergraduate degrees in English from East Carolina University.  She became Editor of the North Carolina Folklore Journal in Fall 2014 after two years as Assistant Editor.  She teaches writing at East Carolina University, and previously worked as Class Notes Editor for East: The Magazine of East Carolina University and as a staff writer and photographer for a local news weekly. In the community, she is active in the North Carolina Folklore Society, the Folk Arts Society of Greenville (NC), and the Green Grass Cloggers.
